The difference between "work out" and "workout"

Grammar PSA for the instagram fitness crowd. I see this every day. E.g.:


Nice abs, but your grammar needs work.


"Workout" is a noun. It's the thing you do. You have a workout. "Work out" is a verb. It's the action you take. You go to the gym to work out.


Muscles are sexy, but so is good grammar.
